A DeskJet ink cartridge will usually last a long time, unless you do a great deal of printing. Typically a DeskJet cartridge is good for about a thousand printed pages. If you know you will be doing a lot of printing, it is probably a good idea to purchase several DeskJet cartridges at a time.

Some companies provide combo packs, which include three or more cartridges for a cheaper price than it would be to purchase each one separately.

Some printers require separate color cartridges for each color, while others have a combination of colors all in one cartridge. When you are buying a new printer, you should always check to see the price of the DeskJet cartridges that you will need to buy once the ink runs out. This can determine the model of printer you choose to go with.

There are many places where you can buy your replacement DeskJet ink cartridges. One obvious one would be the manufacturer or dealer where you purchased your printer. Don't just stop there or you might be missing out on some great ink cartridge deals.

How can you make your DeskJet ink cartridges last longer?

• Print black and white documents with a black ink cartridge. If you use the color cartridge it will mix colors to create black and color cartridges are usually more expensive to replace.
• Print rough drafts in draft mode, it uses less ink and you can switch back for the final version.
• If you don't need a whole document just print a portion.
• If you don't need an image don't print it.
• Use the copy and paste function to print just the part you need.
